At the beginning of the 14th century, Langen was fortified. In addition to the ring of walls in the east, the two round buildings, the Spitzer Turm and Stumpfer Turm, were also built. The Stumpfer Turm originally had a roof. However, this was demolished during the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) in order to use the material to repair the roof of the town hall at the time.Originally, there was no gate at this point. It was not until the 19th century that a simple opening with a wooden lintel was broken. Around 1907, the pointed-arched "Weihertürmchen" was installed, the sandstone surrounds of which probably came from the portal of the Jakobskirche, which was demolished in 1878.
