The viaduct over the Bauna in Guntershausen is in a well-restored condition. That cannot be said of all bridges in our country.

The railway viaduct over the Bauna in Guntershausen was opened in May 1852, but was already open to traffic in 1849. It has three arches and is 45 metres long in total. It is 18.60 metres high. It spans the Bauna with one arch, and another is reserved for road traffic. A path runs under the third arch. On the pillar on this path there is a flood mark from May 17, 1943. It marks the height of the flood wave that was caused by the destruction of the Eder Dam in the Second World War.

The Bauna Viaduct is a three-arch railway bridge on the Main-Weser Railway. This viaduct survived the war unscathed – unlike the Guxhagen Railway Bridge, which crosses the Fulda River not far away.

A high-water mark is emblazoned on one of the piers, indicating the water level after the destruction of the Eder Dam by the RAF (Royal Air Force) on May 17, 1943.
