Santa Maria della Salute (also known as Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute) is a basilica in Venice, Italy, located near Punta della Dogana (Customs Point). It was built as a votive offering by the Venetian population after the devastating plague of 1630. The architect Baldassare Longhena designed this impressive work of baroque architecture with an octagonal plan.
