Narrow country road through the forest, which is very busy during rush hour in the afternoon/early evening, also or especially in the direction of Rathewalde/Hohnstein. I therefore only recommend this route to a limited extent, actually only downhill towards Lohmen. Even there, cars often overtake with too little distance. You should definitely have sufficiently bright lights on your bike in the evening/night. It gets dark quickly on the forest route and you are not always clearly visible downhill due to the bends.

If possible, I try to avoid this route and the subsequent stretch from Rathewalde to Hohnstein.

Road cycling

Nice road between the two towns, it goes over the fields and through the forest. The asphalt is good, but there are a few potholes here and there. Although it is very busy here because of the excursion traffic to the Bastei, I recommend at least the section towards Lohmen, because it is mostly slightly downhill and you can easily increase your average speed here.
