The RurUfer cycle path is a cycle path that runs along the Rur for around 180 kilometers. It begins near the Rur springs at the highest elevation in Belgium, the Botrange in the High Fens, and leads to the mouth of the Maas in Roermond, the Netherlands. In between, the route runs mostly on German territory. At Kalterherberg, the path crosses the Belgian-German border and runs through Monschau on the Obersee and the Rur dam to Heimbach. From there, it continues north through Nideggen and Kreuzau through the Düren district and then through the Heinsberg district. Behind the Effelder Waldsee, the cycle path crosses the German-Dutch border. It ends at the mouth of the Rur in Roermond. The route runs almost exclusively on separate cycle and farm paths. The RurUfer cycle path is part of the NRW cycle network and is signposted with the typical red and white signposts. On the sections in Belgium and the Netherlands, junction-based signage is used.
