The ideal destination for cyclists, hikers and nature lovers. The adventure trail near Uplengen was completed at the end of 2008. This circular hiking trail with a viewing tower and a replica of an ancient plank path that led through the moor thousands of years ago gives visitors an idea of how the impassable moor was crossed back then. You can also take a break in the middle of the untouched nature or find out information about the flora and fauna on several of the information boards set up there. The trail is 1.6 km long. There is enough parking space.

The “Stapeler Moor” with its almost 2-kilometer-long moorland adventure trail is without question worth a detour. When we were here, we were alone and it was easy to follow the trail on bikes.
The power plant in Wiesmoor was heated with the peat mined here until 1964. With the end of the power plant era, the peat in Uplengen was mined even further and was now mainly used in horticulture. It was not until 1998 that mining finally stopped.
The Stapeler Moor is now under strict nature protection and is being renaturalized with great effort. The peat-mined areas have been re-wet and rushes and peat mosses are now thriving in the former cuts. It will take centuries before an intact moor is created here again.
On the moorland adventure trail, information boards provide comprehensive
information about the moor and the flora and fauna.
It was a shame that the observation tower was cordoned off; it is probably a bit old and dilapidated.
