In 1911, a Beiertheimer livestock farm on the site of today's Kolpingplatz had to make way for it. At first the Kolpingplatz was called Karlsplatz, then under the National Socialists Langemarckplatz and only at the request of the Kolpingverein in 1948 it was renamed Kolpingplatz. Today there are directly on the square a children's playground, many lovingly maintained flowerbeds and fountains. There is a pharmacy, a café and a restaurant as well as the oldest kiosk in Karlsruhe on the corner of Gebhardstraße and Karlstraße.

Hiking
There is a small hut on the corner of the street near Kolpingplatz - and it has been there for over 100 years. The little house, built in 1907, was mainly used as a kiosk, lottery and newspaper sales, and it changed owners frequently.
