Thun Old Town

Thun is a wonderful city that you should definitely see. The walk through the Hauptgasse is special, then the Rathausplatz and the Mühlenplatz. Simply picturesque. If you then sit in one of the inviting inns on the Aare, what could be nicer.

Thun and the old town are always worth a trip.

Thun, along with 11 other cities in Baden-Württemberg and Switzerland, is one of the so-called Zähringer cities. These include: Bern, Burgdorf, Bräunlingen, Freiburg im Breisgau, Friborg, Murten, Neuenburg am Rhein, Rheinfelden, St. Peter in the Black Forest, Thun, Villingen, Weilheim an der Teck.
Most of them were founded by the Zähringer family themselves. The family castle of the Zähringer was the Limburg near Weilheim an der Teck.
