Thun is a charming town with many attractions and an interesting old town with a unique castle. This towers over the town, from where the view of the old town, the lake and the Bernese Alps is magnificent. The town was founded in 1200 AD by the Dukes of Zähringen. The town is also culturally important: thun.ch/kulturevents.html. Every Wednesday and Saturday there is a weekly market in the Bälliz, which is an integral part of the tradition of life in Thun.
