About the petting zoo

The 't Brombemke petting zoo was founded in 1977.

The petting zoo in St. Odiliënberg has been a meeting place for young and old for 42 years.

Many children have visited the petting zoo together with their parents, carers and grandparents and got to know the animals.

A petting zoo fulfills various functions. It offers opportunities for meaningful, relaxing leisure activities where the animals are the focus.

The petting zoo also has an educational and informative function. This mainly consists of providing lessons for children and adults.

A petting zoo has the potential to serve a therapeutic function for the elderly, mentally and/or physically disabled, as well as for recovering residents, children and other visitors. Holding or petting animals has been shown to have a calming effect on people. This can be important for children growing up in a hectic society, for example.

Our animals

The following animals are currently present in the petting zoo:

2 roosters and some chickens - 8 goats - 1 pony and 2 donkeys - rabbits and guinea pigs - parakeets, canaries, kakarikis, finches - 1 goose and some ducks - fallow deer

Unfortunately, on my walk outside the grounds I only briefly passed the fence without realizing that there was the possibility of free access. If I come by again, I will definitely take a closer look
