Within the Wuhlheide, the Rohrlake formed a number of smaller lakes or stagnant streams in places. However, the Wuhlheide waterworks, which went into operation in 1914, lowered the groundwater level in Wuhlheide to such an extent that most of the small stream dried up. In the area around the waterworks, the Rohrlake is still largely piped or channeled. It used to feed the small bathing pond that belonged to the Volkspark Wuhlheide.
