The Hohenpeißenberg Meteorological Observatory is the oldest mountain weather station in the world. The observatory is located at 977 m above sea level on the Hohen Peißenberg, about 20 kilometers from the edge of the Alps and about 60 kilometers southwest of Munich in Bavaria.
