During the famine years, around 1860, the princely house in the Erlenau allowed the forest to be cleared to create fields and meadows.
In order to be able to work the soil, the numerous boulders first had to be removed.
This impressive 1200 ton and 5 meter high pyramid was then built with these same basalt stones.
The pyramid has a diameter of about 16 meters.
