The Probstmühle in Oberdorla is one of the seven mills that once stood or still stand on the Siebenmühlenbach. The name Probstmühle or Herrenmühle probably comes from the 11th century, when it was built. At that time, the mill belonged to the church foundation and was thus subordinate to the church lord (Probst). Like most mills, the mill is a grain mill. Here, the grain brought by the farmers was ground into flour, semolina and Schroth.
Today, the Probstmühle is no longer in operation. It was bought by the former municipality of Oberdorla in 2006 and extensively restored so that it could still grind grain today. The mill now serves as a technical monument and is used for weddings.
