The Nussberg (93 meters above sea level) is made of red sandstone rocks, mainly rogenstein. The hilltop area, first mentioned in documents in 1265 as "Notberch", has been used in a variety of ways. For many centuries, the mountain served primarily as a quarry. On the hill stands the remains of an observation bunker built in 1943, which now serves as a lookout tower. From here there is an interesting view of the city center, where the inner-city church towers seem to grow out of the treetops.
