With the Hildegard sculpture in the roundabout on the “Vorstadt” street, Bingen once again identifies itself as a Hildegard town. Following the idea that planting based on the teachings of St. Hildegard of Bingen would make the roundabout even more authentic, BUZ developed a planting concept together with the horticultural architect Katharina Neumann.

The miniature “The Cosmos Man” from her book “Liber divinorum operum” (The Book of the Work of God) served as the model, in which Hildegard of Bingen describes her view of the world and mankind.

In this miniature, red, blue and white circles symbolize the love of God, but also the idea of the primordial elements of creation that was common in medieval times.
