This point on the canal offers a tranquil atmosphere, with its calm waters and shaded banks, perfect for a walk or cycle ride. The lock itself adds a touch of heritage to the natural setting. The passage of boats through the lock gently punctuates the life of the canal.

Lock 30 is a historic lock system that is part of the Saar Canal (Canal de la Sarre) in France. The Saar Canal connects the river Saar with the Rhine-Marne Canal and was an important transport route for goods during the region's industrial heyday. The locks along the canal served to compensate for the differences in height and enable shipping.
The construction of the Saar Canal began in the 19th century and was crucial for the transport of coal, iron and other raw materials that played a major role in the industrial production of Saarland and Lorraine. The canal's locks were built to guide ships over the different water levels. Lock 30 is one of many locks built along the canal.
