The largest moving machines in the world always have something to do with open-cast mining. Two of these giants and many other highlights await your visit - in the mining technology park directly on the A38 in the south of Leipzig.

On the 5.4 hectare site, young and old can experience everything about the extraction of brown coal at 23 stations. Our gigantic main attractions: the 1300-ton bucket wheel excavator 1547 and the almost twice as heavy 1115 spreader (2,400 tons). In addition to the two large machines, an electric locomotive with overburden and coal wagons, a conveyor system and much more provide an authentic glimpse into the past.

There is plenty of space for kids to romp around on the "Tertiary" adventure playground and we offer delicious snacks and drinks in our snack bar "Zum Bagger 1547".

We made a detour to this technology park with the decommissioned large open-cast mining equipment from the former Espenhain open-cast mine. We didn't look at the exhibition itself, but for technology freaks it's definitely worth the entrance fee. For us, it was enough for the photos and the impression. You just have to see it up close.
