Tips

  • The Oratorio Sacrario dell'Addolorata Temple stands on the hill that housed the ancient medieval castle of the lords of Vidor, destroyed in 1510 during the war of the League of Cambrai. It was built in 1925 based on a design by the Venetian architect Brenno del Giudice, who was able to exploit the natural slope of the hill by creating a crypt, adding a forepart and creating a Baroque Oratory above these. The area can be reached via a path, which starts from the center of Vidor, flanked by a Via Crucis. The current complex, equipped with two small bell towers, is composed of the Temple of the Blessed Virgin of Sorrows, preceded by a portico and a large terrace. On the facade, inside the highest tower, you can admire the statue of the Winged Victory, the work of the Venetian sculptor Martinuzzi. In the basement there is the ossuary where the remains of 70 soldiers, from Vidor and elsewhere, who fell during the two wars were buried. In the lower part a small museum contains war artefacts and photographic reproductions. During the 70s, in the external part, some cannons used during the 15-18 were placed.

  • Immediately above Vidor, it actually marks the beginning of the Prosecco Trail. A place of historical importance, the traces of the First World War can still be felt.
