Anyone who goes to Konstanz expects history and medieval houses, especially in the old town. Neither destroyed in the Thirty Years' War nor in the Second World War, and largely solidly built, many great architectural buildings from earlier times have been preserved. But the Barbarossa is in a class of its own...furniture, pictures, medieval maps, evidence of countless meetings at which important decisions were made - some for the entire known world at that time, see the Council of Konstanz - or at which people simply "let God be a good man" and, after a stressful reign, some peace, relaxation and relationship building were sought...my tour of Konstanz was turned upside down, thanks to the friendly doorman at reception who allowed me to take a photo tour...
