Rheydt Castle in Mönchengladbach is the only architecturally completely preserved Renaissance castle on the Lower Rhine. Pretty little castle surrounded by lots of water. With a bit of luck you might catch a glimpse of the kingfishers.

On a Sunday in November with moderately nice weather, everything was already booked/reserved until 7 p.m. at 3 p.m. So don't rely too much on the idea that "there will be something available"!
