The Nemer is a stream in Haaren (North Brabant) that flows into the Esschestroom. It is located on the Nemelaer Estate in Haaren, right behind Nemerlaer Castle. The castle takes its name from this river and from Laer, which means "open space in the forest". The moat of the castle is fed with water from the Nemer.
With the redesign of the Esschestroom by the De Dommel water board, the Nemer has become a fish passage. Because it is also connected to the Esschestroom at the railway bridge, fish can bypass the weir in the Esschestroom. Fish ladders have been placed in the Nemer to bridge the height difference.
The Nemer was previously called Amer (not to be confused with the Amer river near Geertruidenberg).
