The hill referred to here as a "beautiful view" is the Wilde Berg (approx. 50 m above sea level), from which one indeed has a magnificent view of the Oderbruch. There is even a summit cross at the top and a bench invites you to take a break. There is also a pit here that could have been an observation point or even an artillery position in the Battle of the Seelow Heights. In any case, strategically, the hill would have been a good choice.
