The Brucher dam is a recreational lake, idyllically situated in the countryside near Marienheide. It can be circumnavigated in about an hour's walk on beautiful lakeside paths (3.5 km). A campsite is located directly on the lake and invites you to a relaxed and comfortable stay at the water. The Brucher dam is also known for its excellent sailing opportunities.
On hot days, various bathing opportunities entice you to the Brucher Dam:
      + at the sailing club
      + at the DLRG station
      + at the dam wall
      + at the campsite
The Brucher dam is closest to the Wupper spring and was built in 1912 and 1913. The filling requires 3.37 million cubic meters of water. The water basin then has a surface of 47.4 hectares.
      Crayfish in the Brucher dam
The crayfish, our local crayfish, used to be found in many streams in the Bergisches Land. Today it is threatened by foreign cancers that transmit a dangerous fungal disease. But they still exist in the Brucher dam! The crabs are nocturnal and only seen in the dark.
