For centuries, a legendary farm stood here named after the falconry of the lords of Horst. Falconry was for the elite. In 1934 a fire destroyed the farm. Shortly afterwards a new farm was built. The complex is now a campsite with a high Hansel and Gretel character. A memorial stone on the edge of the lake commemorates the history of Hoeve Valkenberg.
