The Viscacha (Lagostomus maximus), also known as the lowland Viscacha to distinguish it from the rabbit mice or mountain viscachas, is a species of rodent from the chinchilla family (Chinchillidae). They live in South America and weigh up to 8 kilograms. They live in underground burrows in groups.
