In the city center there is a building complex with a courtyard that is unknown to many. The buildings are the former military police barracks.
The buildings have been restored.

Historical interpretation: Military Police barracks with stables
In 1824, the municipality of Eindhoven purchased the land on Grote Berg and Paradijslaan for the construction of one of the first military police barracks in the Netherlands. It was a block-shaped building with two floors, with a central corridor leading to six rooms. There was an L-shaped extension with stables against the rear facade. These buildings together formed the courtyard that is still there today.

Barracks today: Barracks on Paradijslaan is now a design hotspot. A place where work by leading designers is exhibited, where you can enjoy lunch, drinks and dinner.

Fun fact: Prison cell
There was also a small prison cell in the courtyard (parts of which can still be seen in one of the hotel rooms). Stories from older Eindhoven residents showed that some prisoners were arrested for walking on the tracks on purpose. Then they were given shelter in the barracks and a hot meal. Very clever, it was cold and they were hungry.
