For the hundredth birthday of the German Emperor Wilhelm I on March 22, 1897, this now heavily weathered memorial stone was erected by the Apenburg Landwehr and Warrior Association in what was then theschulenburg park. The day before, a Sunday, people met for the church parade, tattoo, torchlight procession and Kommers. On Monday, the people of Apenburg concluded the big “Imperial celebration” with a banquet together.
