The herbal trail at these heights has been around since 1996. Apart from the buzzing of bees and the chirping of birds, one hardly hears anything else walking along the 9.9 km long path through the Thuringian Slate Mountains. At that time, there were about 50 to 60 herbs, but now there are almost 90 herbs that have recaptured their location.
The special feature of the herb trail is the arrangement of herbs. Here, nothing was created artificially, but placed little signs along the way next to the herbs. Since 2015, the path is referred to as a digital herbal trail, because you can easily determine the herbs via QR code on the labels by smartphone and get all the important information about them and their effect.
