Upper Starkenburg Mill

Partly renovated over 200 year old community mill, overshot water mill, fully functional. The mill is located in the forest and can be reached on foot along a beautiful hiking trail (approx. 3.5 km from Starkenburg, 5 km from Enkirch, signposted)

Visits to the German mill day - traditionally on Whit Monday, with mill festival on Ahringsbach.

"... Sometimes it rattles in the Ahringsbach valley...
In the 1950s, work in the two Starkenburger mills was stopped because it was no longer worthwhile. The lower mill was sold by the operators and is now used as a weekend home.
The saying "The mill rattles by the rushing brook" still applies to the Obere Mühle, at least from time to time. ..."
