In the 1950s, work in the two Starkenburger mills was stopped because it was no longer worthwhile. The lower mill was sold by the operators and is now used as a weekend home.
The saying "The mill rattles by the rushing brook" still applies to the Obere Mühle, at least from time to time. ..."
