Best Hikes to Barefoot Sensory Trail Triesenberg

Tips

  • Walser Legends Trail, Triesenberg
    A special themed trail
The Triesenberg Walser Legends Trail was opened in spring 2007 and expanded in the following years. This created a unique circular trail that can also be walked in stages. This very special themed trail is intended to bring the history and legends of the Walsers on Triesenberg closer to locals and guests. At the stations along the route, a selection from the rich treasure trove of legends is told. On the educational family hike, playgrounds and barbecue areas invite you to linger and enjoy. The numerous legendary and animal figures and play equipment along the trail impress and delight children too.
The trail leads through a unique cultural landscape with colorful flora and offers a unique view. Triesenberg was only permanently settled in the 13th century by immigrant Valaisans. They shaped the cultural landscape through their clearing activities. The stables and hay huts scattered throughout the area are evidence of the former way of farming. The hay harvested in the summer was fed to the stables after returning from the Maiensäss. The farmer moved from stable to stable like a nomad.

  • Philosopher's Trail Triesenberg
A hike on natural paths in a rich Walser cultural landscape.
This beautiful hike starts high above the village of Triesenberg in the hamlet of Gnalp at 1201 m above sea level. The path first leads north on the Philosopher's Trail to the small Walser settlement of Masescha. It is worth stopping off at the Masescha mountain restaurant and enjoying the famous covered apple pie on the sunny terrace.
After this refreshment, the route continues to the scattered settlement of Vorder-Profatscheng at 1210 m above sea level and then slightly downhill to Hinter-Profatscheng at 1110 m above sea level. The view of the Rhine Valley and the beautiful, tanned Walser houses as well as the well-kept cultural landscape make this path a special experience. From Hinter-Profatscheng, the mountain path is well marked and leads up 350 meters in altitude through sparse mountain forest to Gaflei at 1483 m above sea level. The climb is worth it, because the view from Gaflei into the valley is spectacular. It is not surprising that tourism in Liechtenstein began right here with the construction of the spa house around 1908. After the steep climb to Gaflei, the walk continues comfortably via Silum 1469 m above sea level back to the starting point Gnalp 1201 m above sea level and from there back to Rizlina.
