The pilgrims' destination was and is the Hülfenskreuz, the highly revered Romanesque cross from the middle of the
12th century. It is probably the best known and most revered sacred work of art in the Erfurt diocese.

Hiking
The Cross of Help is said to date back to the 11th century and was brought from the Holy Land by a knight. It is the reason why so many pilgrimages today lead to the mountain, which, incidentally, was also named after this cross.
