Via della Conciliazione is a street in Rome, connecting Piazza Pia with Piazza Papa Pio XII, in front of St. Peter's Square. The street is the main access to Vatican City.

The street was built between 1936 and 1950, as a sign of reconciliation between the Kingdom of Italy and the Holy See, after the Lateran Treaty in 1929. To build the street, an old neighborhood, the Spina di Borgo, had to be demolished . This changed the view of St. Peter's Basilica from the city of Rome and vice versa.

The great "Road of Reconciliation" was built after the conclusion of the "Lateran Treaties" (so named after the Lateran Palace, the place of signing) between the two states of Italy and the Vatican. As magnificent as this wide street and the view of St. Peter's Square and the facade and dome of St. Peter's Basilica are: in order to realize this project, part of the old Borgo (district) had to be demolished.
