The station building, which dates from 1878, houses the public café 't Stationneke. In addition to a well-stocked beer menu, this characterful brown pub also has a modest beer museum. The public café exhibits everything that has to do with beer.

In 1875 the construction of an 'iron road' started. The Antwerp-Münchengladbach was opened in 1879. The confiscation of land initially caused a lot of unrest among the population. That changed when it turned out that the railway led to a rapid revival of the entire region. For a while there was no passenger transport because it generated too little revenue. It was not until 1996 that the station was put back into use.
