The Katzekönkel at the Periolbach in Raeren is a unique historical point where nature and heritage come together. In the 16th century, the bed of the Periolbach served as a passage for the Raeren potters, who drove their carts through the water here. At the Katzekoenkel they turned into the stream bed and followed this path to the Raeren castle. The original cobblestones on the bottom of the entrance are still visible, making this place a fascinating remnant of the former craft life in the region.
