Hiking

The Deipenbecke is a deeply cut side valley in which various traces of landscape interventions from earlier times can be found, including attempts in the 19th century to develop a drinking water supply for Beyenburg, which, however, failed due to the required Wupper crossing. The forest near Deipenbecke looks terrible: the coniferous trees have almost all died: a forest of death. Forestry work gives hope for sensible, climate-friendly reforestation.
