The St. Olofs Bridge has a history of several bridges. An early bridge possibly existed in the 16th century. Olof Rudbeck d.ä. built a wooden suspension bridge in 1666, washed away in 1683. In 1848, the Iron Bridge was inaugurated, replaced in 1964 by the current St. Olofsbron. The Iron Bridge was rebuilt further north in 1987.

Hiking
The St. Olofsbron is a bridge over the Fyrisån river in the center of Uppsala and connects the two sides of the city center. From the bridge, there is a beautiful view along the river with its green banks, walking paths, and surrounding city buildings. It is named after Saint Olav (Olof) of Norway, whose name is encountered in several historical places in Uppsala. Due to its central location, the St. Olofsbron is an excellent stopover during a walk along the Fyrisån and through the historic city center.
