The St. Olofs Bridge has a history of several bridges. An early bridge possibly existed in the 16th century. Olof Rudbeck d.ä. built a wooden suspension bridge in 1666, washed away in 1683. In 1848, the Iron Bridge was inaugurated, replaced in 1964 by the current St. Olofsbron. The Iron Bridge was rebuilt further north in 1987.
