Nybron, crossing Fyris River in central Uppsala, was first built in 1645 alongside Drottninggatan. Destroyed in the 1702 Uppsala Fire, it was replaced with a stone bridge, demolished in 1899. The current bridge, a flat roadway designed by Zakarias Larsson, was widened in 1953 and underwent lane changes in 2005, diverting much of its previous traffic.
