Dorn is a farm in the west of Wuppertal-Ronsdorf, surrounded by beautiful countryside. If you leave Dorn to the east, you have a great view above the Dornbachtal over the horse paddocks all the way to Lichtscheid. Heading south, you first go down to Dornbach and then up to Schüttenberg. And to the east you reach the Gelpetal.

The most important institution in Dorn, which is best known beyond the borders of Wuppertal, is the Bergische Equestrian Academy, which organizes tournaments and courses.

    Story:

Dorn and the nearby chapels were first mentioned in documents in 1597. The Elberfeld line of the Bergische Landwehr, which consisted of ramparts and thorn hedges, ran near Dorn. It ran along the Bendahler Bach to Hof Dorn (Gedörn), where the moat can still be seen in parts and has been placed under protection as an archaeological monument. There the Landwehr turned east and ran via Lichtscheid, Erbschlö, the Marscheider Forest, north of Herbringhausen, via Sondern to Beyenburg. In 1710 a house was counted in town.

On Erich Philipp Ploennies' Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715, the farm is listed as a thorn. On the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824, a place is recorded as Dorn, on the Prussian original survey from 1843 as am Dorn.

In 1832 Dorn belonged to the Holthauser Rotte in the rural outskirts of the town of Ronsdorf. At that time, the place, which was categorized as individual houses according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district, had three residential buildings and one agricultural building. At that time there were 31 residents living in the town, nine Catholic and 22 Protestant. In the community lexicon for the Rhineland province from 1888, a residential building with 15 residents is listed.[5]

The connecting road ran through Dorn from Elberfeld via Sandhof, Freudenberg, Dorn and Monschau to Ronsdorf, today's Dorner Weg. It was expanded in the 1740s as part of the Werden – Elberfeld – Ronsdorf – Lüttringhausen – Lennep road connection.
