The Hard Tower (Hardturm) is a medival tower which was part of the medival outer defense line of the city of Zurich. It was built in the later half of the 13th century and is the only remaining secular building of that era. In 1693 four bay windows were added on the top.
The lower walls up to 6 meters in high are 3.5m wide. The tower was originally surrounded by a circular wall and a moat. The tower also controlled the bride, but the crossing was destroyed in 1352 and not rebuilt until modern times.
