Information:

The 215-meter-high "Großer Ternickel" (Great Ternickel) is an outcrop of the 300-million-year-old volcanic rock porphyrite from Potschappel. There was a quarry near the summit of the Großer Ternickel, although no large quantities of rock were extracted.

West of Burgwartsberg, the outcrop of the bedrock forms two small hills, one of which was used as a ski jump at times. In January 2011, the "Ternickel" natural monument was incorporated into the "Burgwartsberg" landscape conservation area.
