Stumpfer Turm Aschersleben

• 1440 built tower, 23 m high, today without a helmet - hence the name
• next to the tower is a horseshoe-shaped shell (not accessible)
• between the blunt tower and today's city archive / criminal optics were the malt mill (still in the 20th century in
Operation) and the synagogue of the Jewish community in Mauerstraße

The Blunt Tower is located in the southern part of the old town of Aschersleben.
In 1322, Countess Elisabeth, the widow of Otto II, allowed the town of Aschersleben to erect town fortifications.
With a length of 2.2 kilometers, this fortification protected the city from attackers. 1.8 kilometers of the fortifications are still preserved today.
Furthermore, 51 towers and shells were built along the city fortifications in the 14th and 15th centuries, 15 of which are still preserved today.
