    Gotokuji Temple (護国寺) is known throughout Japan as the supposed origin of the Maneki-neko, the "beckoning cat" that is said to bring good luck and success to its owner. The temple grounds also include a historic cemetery where many famous Japanese figures are buried, including Lord Naotaka li, karate master Ōyama Masutatsu, and several former prime ministers, as well as a huge maple grove, perfect for viewing Japan's autumn foliage.
