The Gothic brick church is picturesquely situated on a hill of the Hohen Geest. It was built about 1400-1425 over the walls of the old stone church. A tower was built around 1600. In 1988-90 the church had to be fundamentally restored (completely new foundations).

St. Martin was a former Roman cavalry officer who was named Bishop of Tours for his love of God and man.
