In front of the castle, the Oranje princess Luise Henriette (1627-1667) greets us as a monument, gmgs-moers.de/GMGS/Luise_Henriette.html

"In front of the Moers Castle stands the monument to the Orange Princess Luise-Henriette (1627–1667), realized by Heinrich Baucke in 1904. The bronze statue of the Electress, created in the Neo-Renaissance style, stands on a stone base surrounded by garlands and pierced by Cupid's arrow with the coat of arms of Nassau-Orange and Brandenburg-Prussia stitched together. Cupid sits on the shields and looks at his work. The princess herself wears a robe with lavish folds, the skirt falls to the tips of her shoes and is gathered a little by her left hand. With her right hand the princess holds an ermine stole that slides from her shoulder.

Luise Henriette married Friedrich Wilhelm, Elector of Brandenburg, in 1646. After the death of her brother and her nephew, her son was to succeed him in the County of Moers: Frederick I, King of Prussia. His monument, also created by Heinrich Baucke, is in Moers on the Neumarkt. In 1902 it was ceremoniously unveiled in the presence of Kaiser Wilhelm II to commemorate the 200-year affiliation of the city and county of Moers to Prussia."
