The two buildings of the Bergschlösschen and the White Villa in the city are evidence of the prosperity of the former German bourgeoisie of the Schöffer and Becker family. Conrad Heinrich Schöffer had the Dorotheehöhe tea house built around 1875 for his wife Dorothea as a permanent garden house in the Italian, late classicist style. Later the city of Gelnhausen bought it and today there is a restaurant here. From here you have a beautiful view over the city and the Kinzig valley. (Source: European Culture Trail)

Hiking
The Bergschlösschen, also known as Dorotheenhöhe Castle when it was built in 1875, is a striking building, especially because of its tower. Conversely, due to the hillside location, there is an interesting view of the city and the Kinzig valley. It was originally built as a summer house/tea house for the Schöffer family of industrialists and is now used as a restaurant.
