Also the town hall was very nicely restored.
In the vicinity of the market some streets are being renovated in July 19, which is why they are closed to vehicular traffic.

You can easily explore the picturesque old town of Gadebusch on foot, take a leisurely stroll and at the same time take in the surroundings and their sights. The cosy town centre is concentrated on a hill in the middle of the town.

In addition to the imposing Gadebusch Castle, there are several architectural features to discover in the historic old town, such as the town hall, which
was built around 1340. It is one of the oldest secular buildings in Mecklenburg.
Started as a functional building for the merchant class, the building was later used as an office, court and town prison.

The current cultural centre of Gadebusch is located on the site of the former outer bailey of the Renaissance castle. The museum complex, a true gem of the town, houses the lovingly furnished municipal museum and the town information centre. This is where people meet and can simply unwind with a cup of coffee while looking out over the castle lake.

The historic old town of Gadebusch is also home to the impressive town church of St. James and St. Dionysius with its royal chapel and the burial place of Agnes, Queen of Sweden and Duchess of Mecklenburg. This church, built in the 13th century in an almost square shape, is one of the earliest brick churches in all of northwest Mecklenburg.
The late Romanesque town church of Gadebusch is one of the oldest Romanesque hall churches in northern Germany. This is why the town church is one of the most important church buildings in northern Germany and was declared a monument of national importance in 2005.
