What Damiano writes here made me look up some more information about the artist.
    What a life story...!
Solveyg W. Schafferer, was born in 1928 in Innsbruck, Austria, to an Austrian father and a Norwegian mother.
Shortly after the 'Anschluss' her parents decided to emigrate to Norway. Father had spoken critically about the Nazis a number of times, and colleagues had reported him. From Hamburg they took the boat to Trondheim, where they arrived in March 1939. When the Germans occupied Norway a year later, the family feared new problems with the Nazis. This followed four years later, in 1944: they had to return to Germany by train. However, the family - mother had died a year earlier - managed to flee to Sweden.
Since 1948, Solveyg W. Schafferer has lived in Norway again. She studied at the Trondheim Art Academy.
After the age of 50, she still studied philosophy, majoring in the history of religion, in which she wrote a dissertation with the telling title 'In the beginning was the image'.

The bronze sculpture was created by the Norwegian sculptor Solveyg W. Schafferer, who was born in Austria and lives in Oslo. The traveler is not an only child; her sisters can be found in Oslo and Narvik.

The Passenger is a sculpture located on Strandveien. But who is she really and what is her story?

The sculpture is called "Passages" and was created between 1990 and 1991 by a sculptor called Solveyg W. Schafferer. It was made in bronze and was originally part of a sculpture group called "Bølerbanen", which Schafferer created in 1960.

Schafferer herself says that "Passenger" is not based on a real person, but on various impressions she got when she herself used to take the Bølerbanen railway to her studio outside Oslo. A couple of years later, Solveyg decided to cast the little lady in bronze and exhibit it at the National Autumn Exhibition. The sculpture attracted so much attention that in 1992 she decided to model it in the large format it is now in on Strandveien.
