Fruchtkasten – House of Music in the Württemberg State Museum

The "Fruchtkasten" was first mentioned in 1393 as a "large stately wine press behind the Stiftskirchhof".

Today the musical instrument collection of the Württemberg State Museum is located here and is called the “House of Music in the Fruit Box”.

The so-called fruit box, a late Gothic stone building on Schillerplatz, is one of the oldest preserved buildings in Stuttgart. Today the house is used as a sub-museum of the Württemberg State Museum as the house of music in the fruit box.
