The castle was built between 1828 and 1873 in the style of British castles by the princes of Leiningen, who are still remotely related to the British royal family. It served as a hunting lodge in the middle of a game park. During the Second World War, the castle was used as a military hospital and later converted into a psychosomatic clinic, which is now run by the Princely House as a private company.

To simplify: the link to the history of the castle is schloss-waldleiningen.de/geschichte
I was still interested in the original use of today's sports hall. This is clearly not to be found, but the information that the castle was used as a starting point for hunting and the statement "... The linden trees between the castle and the stables are still reminiscent of those years" on http: //www.architekturweb .de / waldlein.htm indicate that this originally served as the castle's stables.

RAVEN AND CAPRICORN; Roman am Limes
is the title of a novel that took place in this area around 1900 years ago. The author Barbera von Wickede grew up in Waldleiningen, so she knows every stone here. In any case, the stones that the Romans left above Waldleinigen on the Limes have combined them into a very lively and exciting plot. Easy to read on a summer meadow or a shady bench somewhere in this beautiful area.
